New masonry construction always requires some form of final cleaning prior to presenting the project to the owner, or prior to the application of a water repellant.

On new construction there's always lime run or efflorescence that can ruin the look of the clay brick, unless cleaned properly. Here's an example of Bielski cleaning new construction brick to expose that natural beauty. Water repellant can then be applied to enhance the long term resistance to weather related stains and efflorescence.

Concrete masonry is currently manufactured in a variety of colors, textures and finishes which demand a gentle final cleaning process. Sand blasting which was historically the preferred method is no longer an option, due to its destructive nature. CMU which is erected during inclement weather will require unique consideration.

This photo shows how poor CMU block can appear with extensive lime run including rust streaks on colored, burnished block. Bielski can remove the lime run, rust stains while leaving the color, texture and grout intact.
