Constructed as the Commercial Club in 1925, the building was the headquarters for leading business and social club catering to the downtown merchants. It featured a large dining room for social functions, several meeting rooms, and even a “Plunge” pool and lounge area, in a building that combined business with pleasure in a dramatic architectural setting. Designed by the prominent firm of Curlett and Beelman, the Commercial Club, later renamed the Case Hotel is recognized as a Historic and Cultural Monument by the City of Los Angeles and is noted for its ornamental facades featuring extensive use of terra cotta for arches and cornices.
