The structure suffered major damage in the 1994 Northridge earthquake.

The Los Angeles City Hall on Main Street in the city of Los Angeles was built in 1928. The 30 story building is comprised of glazed brick light courts, flamed granite blocks from the 1st to the 5th level, continuing with terra-cotta surfaces from the 5th level to the roof.

The structure suffered major damage in the 1994 Northridge earthquake. The City of Los Angeles awarded the prime contract to Carrara Marble Corporation in March 2000, Bielski was awarded the subcontract for the exterior restoration cleaning of approximately 315,000 square feet of surface area and lead based paint abatement on approximately 175,000 lineal feet (click here) of terra-cotta grout lines.

Bielski chemically cleaned Historic wall surfaces utilizing a combination of frame and suspended swing stage scaffold systems. For the duration of our restoration process, Bielski generated waste effluent that required special precautions with regard to handling and disposal, effluent waste was filtered thru a 5 micron 4 stage system and disposed on site.
